The greatest hitter ever comes into view with this c.1951 4x5 photo of Ted Williams taken by Williams Jacobellis. "Teddy Ballgame's" career .482 on-base percentage makes him the most accomplished batter in MLB history and were it not for his five seasons lost to military service, he would very likely have been the only player to collect 2,3000+ RBIs. Used for Williams 1952 Red Man baseball card #23, this condition sensitive original Type I photograph with black borders shows moderate corner wear to rate as (VG-EX). This vintage photo otherwise presents handsomely with a sharp image, clean surface and abundant gloss and the reverse bears Jacobellis' credit stamp. Enjoy this unique opportunity to acquire a small part of Williams legacy, produced by one of the sporting world's most renowned photographers. Full photo LOA from PSA/DNA.

H&S has enjoyed great success of late with contact proofs and Type I photos from the archives of William Jacobellis and Bob Olen. We are pleased to continue these offerings in our current August, 2019 auction, with another round of Jacobellis photos featuring baseball HOFers and stars of the 1950s, including Ted Williams and Rogers Hornsby as a manager. In this current round, the majority of the individual photos on offer were used for 1950s Bowman or Topps baseball cards. As these photos are condition sensitive due to black borders, in many cases they present better than the assigned technical grades. To review the currently offered photos please see our Baseball Cards & Vintage Memorabilia/Baseball Original Photos category.
