A well-traveled MLB journeyman in the 1880s-1890s, Smith was also a pretty snappy dresser, as evidenced by this professional cabinet card portrait photo. Leading certification service SGC, has blessed this antique 4-1/8 x 6-1/4"  photo as Authentic with a label notation date of "c.1880s". Based on Fulton St. in Brooklyn, Gardner & Co. made sure there would be no mistake about who took this striking image, by printing their credit at bottom of the obverse and also covering the entire reverse with their provenance.
