As a member of a twelve team National League field, the 1895 Cincinnati Reds racked up a winning record of 66-64 but only finished eighth, twenty-one games back of the first place Baltimore Orioles. In fact nine of the league's twelve participants finished with winning records, indicating just how tough the competition was that season. From the first month of the 1895 campaign comes this Cincinnati "Daily Base Ball and Race Bulletin" sheet with score grids for the home event with the Reds vs the Pittsburgh Pirates and five out of town games. Dated "4/25/1895", this 14x11 sheet shows moderate surface loss on the perimeter along with a few edge tears, however the paper remains fairly clean and supple and the graphics are bold. A fanciful header has a baseball batter at left, the head of a racehorse at right and a stylish title box at center. At bottom are horse racing results from three racetracks and the final elements are promos for the Coney Island Season at left and the Reds next series vs the Chicago Cubs at bottom.
